Hidden off the busy thoroughfare of Elm Grove & Kings Rd, the Tavern est 1859, sits in a conservation area adjacent to a tree lined square in this quiet backwater of Southsea. Our award winning family bar & eating rooms have been welcoming friends new & old for nearly six years providing fresh home cooked meals in a relaxed & inviting atmosphere.

-We now have on sale, a lovely selection of chutneys from the 'Hampshire Chutney Company' that you take home with you! These little 205g pots of lovelyness are available for £3.95 each and include our very own 'King Street Tavern' personalised label. A perfect gift!  The chutneys on sale: 'Smokey Tom's Chutney', 'The Cheeky Chutney', 'Caramelised Carrot Chutney' & 'Caramelised Onion Marmalade'

-The Tavern Kitchen's New Lunch Special

Available Tuesday-Saturday 12pm-3pm, we have a tasty new two-course lunch menu that is not only tasty, but kind on your pocket too.                        

Come in for a scrummy homemade 'tart of the day' (vegetarian choice available) with one of brand new tasty chutneys from 'The Hampshire Chutney Company' or a bowl of warming soup and enjoy a tasty dessert of the day, all for just £8.50, or £9.00 with a cup of 'Portsmouth Tea'.

-The Tavern is very pleased to announce the arrival of Wadworth's 'Beer Kitchen', a unique range of beers, brewed in limited batches from the finest hand selected ingredients.  These 330ml bottles are available here at The Tavern right now.

  -We also have a new tea supplier! All our tea is now from local Southsea based - 'All About Tea' We have tried and tested a fantastic selection & chosen four refreshing and comforting blends, including the incredibly popular 'Portsmouth Tea'. 

-The Tavern fortnightly alternative quiz was fully booked last Sunday! Next one is Sunday 28th April from 7.30pm.

-Folk music session Wednesday 10th March. Live Jazz with 'The Angelheart Quartet' Saturday 4th May.
